Bethany Christian School, established in 1980, is a ministry of Rio Vista Community Church that offers PK2-Grade 8. The school is located in the Rio Vista neighborhood of downtown Ft. Lauderdale and currently has approximately 250 students. Bethany is well known for offering academic excellence in a nurturing, Christ-centered environment. Small class sizes coupled with individualized attention ensure that our students experience maximum success on the academic, emotional, and spiritual fronts.

Year after year, our students achieve scores well above the national average on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. For the 2006-2007 school year, every class (Kindergarten through Grade 8) scored above grade level on the test; the schoolwide average was one year and two months above grade level. In addition, last year 18 BCS students were selected for the Duke University Talent Identification Program on the basis of their superior ITBS scores.

Bethany's middle school graduates routinely matriculate into the high schools of their choice. In the past, our eighth-graders have been accepted to St. Thomas Aquinas, Cardinal Gibbons, Westminster Academy, University School, and Florida Air Academy. We are fully accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools, the Florida Kindergarten Council, and Christian Schools of Florida. Bethany is also a member of the Association of Christian Schools International.

Admissions Open House - May 13 -- Posted on Wednesday, May 7, 2008

Bethany will host an Admissions Open House on Tuesday, May 13, at 6:30 p.m in the School "Attic". Guests will hear an overview of the school, tour the campus, and meet faculty and staff. Park in the lot on 9th Street and proceed to the northwest corner of the building. No RSVP is necessary.

Fall Enrollment Promotion -- Posted on Saturday, May 3, 2008

For a limited time, BCS is offering current families a 10% discount on 2008-2009 tuition for one child if they refer another family to the school with a child in Kindergarten - Grade 8 who enrolls next year. The referred family will receive a 15% discount on their student's tuition.

Expressways to Learning Summer Session - June 9 - August 7 -- Posted on Sunday, April 27, 2008

Registration for Expressways to Learning summer classes has begun. The session will run for 9 weeks (you choose which 8 weeks are most convenient for you!). Expressways is neurologically based and designed to help improve reading (level, speed, and comprehension) and/or math skills. SAT and college prep sessions are also available. Classes are available at 8:00, 9:00 and 10:00 every Monday-Thursday for 45 minutes.

Summersational Camp - June 9 - July 18 -- Posted on Sunday, April 27, 2008

Summersational is a camp offered by Rio Vista Community Church for children age 3 through entering 6th grade. Sessions include "Space Race", "Wet and Wild", "Feathery Friends", "Ready, Set,Grow", "Jeepers Creepers", and "Amazing Me". Sports Camp for students entering 2nd through 6th grades is also available. Cheerleading Clinic - May 16-17 -- Posted on Sunday, April 20, 2008

The Bethany middle school cheerleaders will host a cheerleading clinic for girls in Kindergarten - Grade 5 on Friday, May 16, from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm, and on Saturday, May 17, from 9:30 am - 11:30 am. The cost is $25 per child. Participants will learn sideline chants, cheers, stunts, tumbling, and dance. The registration deadline is May 14.
